Hello everyone from Grand Rapids! We have over a foot of snow here! I’m praying I get home before spring! In Tennessee, it’s rare if we get 2 inches! If so, the entire county shuts down expect for the grocery stores. That’s where you go to buy the essential survival kit consisting of a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. Two inches of snow could trap a person for a lonnnnggg time you know.
While Tennessee may look like a ghost town during a two inch snow storm, Michigan keeps right on moving along. I was surprised that the event last night was packed! Brave souls, I say.
There’s something peaceful about snow. Yesterday, I sat in my hotel room and watch it float to the ground. What a beautiful sight! It was a real treat for me to see this much snow all at once. I’ve taken pictures and will share them once I return home—whenever that may be. Snow does create a beautiful, peaceful scene. It’s a perfect backdrop for the Christmas event. Wasn’t it good of God to decorate for us?!
In my message, “Tidings of Great Joy,” I talk about the Names of God found in Is 9:6. “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
I love this verse because it not only tells us that we have a wise Counselor who guides us; a Mighty God whose power surpasses all and prevails over our enemies; an Everlasting Father who will never grow old, die, and orphan us, and a Prince of Peace whose peace reigns within us even the midst of chaos. But…
What I like most about this verse is it tells the real reason for the season. You are! You and I are the reason for the season. Look back at the verse and see that it was unto “us” a child was born; it was unto “us” a son was given. If it weren’t for our need of a Savoir, there would have been no reason for the Christ child and no holiday season to celebrate His birth. So, my dear friend, YOU are the reason for the season. You are highly favored of God, therefore rejoice!
Joyfully yours,

Yes, the margarita chicken is legal… and very tasty! Give it a try!! 🙂
We had it with a salad and it was a perfect meal that all the kids ate with happy faces. Trust me, that doesn’t happen often.

Wonderful message for today! I love knowing that I’m the reason for the season – thanks for making me feel special! I bet the snow is beautiful. We see flurries sometimes in Mississippi if we squint and stare really hard long enough, hah hah!

Ahh, white as snow, though my sins were as scarlet, Lord I know, that I am clean and forgiven, through the power of your blood, through the wonders of your love, through faith in you I know that I can be…white as snow…
God just tied it all together in my head there -n- I had to share!

And what a perfectly perfect gift for us, no? Isaiah 9 is one of my favorites!
We are having snow here in WV too, and I have to agree–it is beautiful! NO school today, so it was a stay-in-the-jammies-for-a-long-time kinda day. It was awesome!
May the season’s blessings fall…
