I admit doubting God when my illness went on for months with no diagnosis. The doctors didn’t help my faith by calling me “The Mystery Patient” either. After seeking a second opinion and a third and fourth, a diagnosis seemed impossible.
Have you ever been in an impossible situation? Maybe you’re there now.
Romans 13:1 tells us,
“There is no power but of God.”
We see His power in creation, the parting of the read sea, His ability to shut the mouths of lions… the list is long. While it seems there is nothing too hard for God, we still doubt.
Abraham and Sarah were first among those who discovered nothing is too hard for God. In this story found in Genesis 18, God promised Abraham and Sarah, “At the time appointed I will returned to you and Sarah shall have a son” (Gen 18:14).
Sarah laughed at this news. She was well into her elderly years. She must have been thinking, “There’s no baby coming out of this old body.”
When God heard her laughing (and probably rolling her eyes,) He posed this question.
“Is anything too hard or too wonderful for the Lord?” (Gen 18:14).
That’s when it got personal. It was as if God was asking me the same question. To be honest, I believed Sarah was going to have a baby probably because I knew the out come of the story. But I wasn’t too sure God could make possible the impossible in my life. Can you identify?
The truth is nothing is impossible with God.
God kept his word to Sarah. She did give birth to a son that played a major role for mankind.
As for me, I eventually got well. Apparently, I had some sort of virus that sticks around uninvited for a few months.
But God…. He had everything under control the whole time. And even though I had my moments of doubt, I learned something about God and myself.
When we laugh at, or doubt God, we’re rejecting His supernatural power to make something that seems to be totally impossible possible. That’s not all. We miss the blessings that come with faith and obedience. God desires for you and me to take Him at His word no matter how unmanageable your situation seems. Why—because nothing is too hard for God.

What a beautiful reminder that God does not change in the midst of our ever changing circumstances! He is soverign & His plans are good. He is just as faithful & in control when we can see the dots being connected as He is when we feel like we’re sitting alone in the dark – unable to see anything. Thank you for sharing this truth! 🙂

Micca, I thank you for affirming my thoughts and prayers about something I have been coping through for a long time. I need to be patient and continue to trust God with this. I need to keep on praying and trusting in His perfect timing. God never gives up on me and I will never give up on Him. His answer may be a flat out no, for my good; a not yet, or a yes. I will trust in His timing and also remember that God may be working in someone else’s life. It may not be about me at all. Hope I made sense….

I’ve been stressed and worried about a personal situation. I have a court hearing tomorrow and it involves a dear loved one. At times when I think I’m fine and that my faith in God is strong a sudden episode of complete fear and doubt takes over. I know I need to trust God plans no matter the outcome. Thank you for this reminder to not lose hope.

Thank you so much for sharing this truth. I have been dealing with an ongoing health issue, a thorn in the flesh, if u will. God has been speaking to me to remind me that His grace is sufficient. Lessons are being learned and I pray loves are touched through my difficulty.
