Nashville’s Flood

May 3

Flooding in Nashville has reached biblical proportions and havn’t finished rising yet.

Homes, cars, and stores are under water. Last night, you could swim in our front yard. Thankfully, the water has receded. Others have not been so lucky. Our brother in law’s home butts up against the Cumberland River. They’ve moved their furnishing to the top floor of their home hoping to salvage what they can.

This is a historic flood. The President has declared Nashville and surrounding areas a national disaster. Eleven lives have been lost. Schools are closed as well as many bridges due to damage. Many are trapped and can’t get home. There is already a shortage of gasoline. It’s bad, y’all. We would appreciate your prayers. I’ll keep you posted.

Resting in God’s Care! “When you pass through the waters I will be with you, and through the rivers they shall not overflow you; when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; no shall the flame kindle upon you.” Is 43:2

    Morning Micca,
It is amazing the flooding. I am not sure if you remember meeting me at the airport coming back from "She Speaks" two summers ago, but I live just north of Nashville. This devastation is just overwhelming. Our town has not been hit as hard since we are on top of the ridge but we did have water shortage yesterday and my son's school is closed. He goes to a small private school. As I read your post and look at the pictures my eyes are filled with tears. I have grown up and lived in Nashville my whole life and I guess this morning it just really hit me what all we are going through right now. Praying for you and our fellow Tennesseans. May God show His glory and pour out an overabundance of mercy.

    Love in Christ,
    Brandee, a fellow Middle Tennessean

Praying for you and all those experiencing this current flood situation. The pictures and news coverage has been heartbreaking, yet I know that God is good and He hurts when we do. Take care!

The pictures you post look so surreal. I've been to Nashville a few times and actually stayed at the Opryland Hotel…I just can't even begin to imagine what daily life is like for you and everyone affected by this flood.
