Our son, Mitch, wanted to help pull the suitcases to the car.
“Sure, son. You can help.” Said dad.
At the time, Mitch was only four years old. He didn’t have the strength to pull the suitcase but he was determined.
He first tried moving the luggage forward by shoving it with all his might. When that didn’t work, he faced the suitcase and tugged with both hands. The wheels thrust forward knocking our son to his feet. A look of disappointment fell across his tiny face. Noticing his struggle, dad suggested he give it one more try. To Mitch’s surprise, this time it worked! His frown turned into a big satisfying smile. He felt so strong and grown up. Little did he know, dad was pushing the suitcase from behind with his foot.
Watching the two of them reminded me I have a heavenly Father who strengthens me when I’m weak. When I fall short of living the life I want to live, He steps in and infuses me with His abundant grace and power.
Let’s be honest. I’m desperate for God’s daily strength and righteousness. I get tired of trying to measure up in my own power. It’s frustrating. Yet, God never meant for you or me to live a defeated life.
While our world gives us an abundance of trouble in this world, God gives us an abundance of His grace. He has deposited in us His radiant, priceless gift of His own strength and godliness. Just think of the divine resource we have as God’s children.
God never grows weary.
He never needs recharging or sleep.
God doesn’t need a backup of any kind.
He is a fiery flame of energy that never goes out. He’s inexhaustible. This is why He is the source of our strength every day.
The inexhaustible power of God worked through Moses. His signs and miracles He performed on the behalf of the children of Israelites were proof that nothing is too hard for God. There is no one like Him. And we can depend on the strength of our heavenly Father when we are weak. We can depend on it every day.
When we learn to rely on His strength in us, there is no situation that can defeat the daughter or son of our Most High King. For when we are weak, He is strong!
