Spiritual Books Are Like Food for My Hungry Soul

Aug 2

With much excitement, I’d like to introduce to you “God’s Purpose for Every Woman: A P31 Woman’s Devotional.” At Proverbs 31 Ministries, we touch over 170,000 women daily with our popular online daily devotions called, “Encouragement for Today.” Written by over a dozen of P31 writers, including myself, these devotions were specially selected to empower women to become more devoted to God. You will read about real life stories from these authors and what they learned about God and His ways. But it doesn’t stop there. These devotions also come with a prayer and application steps so that you can apply God’s principles to your life as well. This devotional book will not only bless your life, it will change it!

You can order it online at http://www.proverbs31.org/ Under Resources.

Now, for my up coming book, “Faith That is STRONGER Than All My Fear,” will be my first baby. I’m so excited and yet humbled that God would allow me to write to this subject. It’s my prayer that this book contain His message and not mine. I’m depending totally on God to write every word. Only God knows who will read this book and the empty places caused by fear that need His freedom and healing touch. I don’t know who those people are, but I know their fear.

I have faced every woman’s greatest fear…the death of her spouse. I married at the young age of 19. Two years latter, God blessed us with a beautiful baby boy. When he was only four months old, his father, and my husband, suffer a tragic accident that left him burned over 80% of his body. He lived for 8 days in Vanderbilt Burn Center before he passed from this world to the next. I suddenly found myself alone, a new mother and a widow at the age of 21.
(My entire story will soon be posted on video.)

Fearful, anxious, confused, worried, panic-stricken became the words that described my life. They are also the words that describe over 40 million Americans. What are we afraid of? Is it when the phone rings and nobody is there? Are we afraid that the school our child attends will be the next school shooting? Is it caring for your family’s needs that worry you most? Is it the unknown or being known? Perhaps it’s your past that haunts you. Although we are living in fearful times, God never intended for us to be worry-warts. You and I can’t be afraid and live by faith at the same time. We must believe that our faith in God is stronger than all our fear.

I’d love to hear from you and perhaps use your story in my book. What concerns you most? What keeps you up at night worrying? What are you most afraid of?

Until next time…God bless!

I was directed here through Marybeth’s site a few weeks ago and I also had the pleasure of hearing you speak at She Speaks in June. I’m happy to hear of your book contract(s) and I can’t wait to read your finished product!

I guess what I’m most afraid of is abandonment. I’m afraid of something happening to my husband or my family, of being unloved and not needed, not measuring up or being good enough, and of being left behind. I’m sure the roots lie in being divorced and abandoned by my first husband at age 21 with a baby and no money in a town where I didn’t know a soul. I was also a child of alcoholism, divorce, and drug use. God’s grace and His purpose for me pulled me from the pit of despair and feelings of worthlessness. I am blessed beyond measure with an amazing family and a true purpose for the Kingdom but even still, I have to battle with those fears and the lies of the enemy every day.

Despite the fear, I know that there is assurance that God will never leave us or forsake us and so, as strong as those fears can be, there is always a strength that is bigger than fear, a love that is more powerful than even the harshest of circumstances. How amazing that God’s love and His plan transcends ALL understanding. Praise God that there is peace even in the debris of tragedy, loss, bitterness, anger, and deliverance from fear.

    Sorry this was so long… I’m typing and I can’t stop! 🙂

Thanks for being a blessing to so many women and families. I blog over at http://www.xanga.com/travelerswife if you ever want to drop by!

    Many blessings…
    Cara

    Micca:

Congratulations on your book deal! God has given you an opportunity to minister to others through the tragedy you endured.

I would say some of my greatest worries are financial. We are responsible for so many little ones in our household that it’s overwhelming sometimes. It’s definitely responsible for my design business, though, which sprang from my need to supplement our income from home.

BTW, as long as your blog doesn’t allow anonymous comments, I can’t post a comment signed in from my blog, since it’s not on blogger. You might try word verification instead.
