My heart is heavy today. So many people I love are facing such trying times. I have friends who are suffering from job loss, a strained marriage, a sick child, and a sick mother. On top of that I wrecked my daughter’s brand new bug (car) on the way to school this morning. It’s not too bad. Just a busted headlight. Thankfully, we were all okay. But still…discouragement is everywhere. Perhaps you feel it too.
When our circumstances seem to contradict God’s promises, it’s easy to lose hope and believe the enemies lies. But the truth is…God loves us, He hears our cries, and He’s at work with our best interest in mind. Thinking on this truth reminded me of this scripture:
“When all that is good falls apart, what can good people do? (David is asking this, but notice that he doesn’t finish his question with an answer. He makes a declaration!) “The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord sits on his throne in heaven” Ps 11:3-4.
David reminds us that God is sovereign. He’s in His temple at rest. He’s sitting. God is not up walking around wringing his hands in worry over this situation. No. The Lord knows. He’s in control and has got matters well at hand. God also plans to uses these trying times to fashion a bright and hopeful future for us.
It’s my prayer for you today that you’ll allow these truths to bring you strength, hope, and peace in the midst of your discouragement.
Allow me to finish my thoughts with a quote from my book, An Untroubled Heart.
“He is the One who tells the sun when to rise and when to set. He is the God who causes the ocean waves to obey their boundaries. This is the God that gave life to you and me. Why would He do that and then leave us alone? He wouldn’t. Just as a loving mother would never leave her child, God the Father will never leave us. He can’t be torn away, led away, coaxed away, seduced away, or dragged away.” His love for you is too strong!

Hi Micca,
I came over from Lelia’s blog Write From the Heart. I’m part of her Yes to God Group.
First I have to say your post goes right along with chapter 1 in your book. What wonderful words of encouragment.
I just wanted to thank you for listening to God and writing your book. Even though I’ve only read the first chapter, God used your words to open my eyes to a new piece of my heart. As I wrote my post, the words came out of that I never really verbalized.
I’m looking forward to see how God speaks to me through the rest of your book. And also to be able to visit your blog.
The P31 ministries is something I’ve only recently been introduced too. So I feel like a kid in a Candy store. So much to read and dig into God’s word.
In Him,
Carol
